Junior Specialist
Department of Orthopaedic Surgery

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking a Junior Specialist to join the Orthopaedic Trauma Institute (OTI). The Junior Specialist will serve as a research team member within the department and contribute to ongoing research projects under the supervision of faculty investigators.
The incumbent will assist with research activities including data collection and management, literature review, protocol development support for multiple concurrent studies, data analysis, interpretation of findings, and preparation of manuscripts for publication. The Junior Specialist will collaborate with faculty, trainees, and research staff to support the successful execution of research objectives.
This position requires the incumbent to work 2–3 days per week at Washington Hospital in Fremont, California, with remaining time at UCSF-affiliated research locations as needed. The role may also require occasional evening and weekend availability based on research scheduling needs.
Basic Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) by the time of hire.

- Some research experience

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience assisting with human subjects research
- Experience in clinical or health-related research environments
- Familiarity with research data collection and basic statistical analysis
- Experience contributing to manuscript preparation or academic writing

Salary
See Table 24B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $55,000 - $58,600.
