Clinical X or HS Clinical Faculty Series
The Division of Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals are seeking a highly qualified Associate Chief for Clinical Operations. The appointment will be made at the Associate or Full Professor rank within the HS Clinical or Clinical X series, commensurate with the candidate's experience.
The successful candidate will join a leading academic medical center with an established fellowship training program. This position will include clinical responsibilities at both the San Francisco and Oakland campuses and will actively contribute to our mission of excellence in research, education, and patient care.
The Associate Chief for Clinical Operations will provide leadership for the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine’s clinical enterprise, working closely with unit medical directors, the Division Chief, the Department Chair, and health system partners to ensure high-quality, coordinated care across all clinical sites.
The division’s clinical programs include a 20-bed medical/surgical Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Mission Bay; a 24-bed medical/surgical PICU at the Oakland campus, which serves as the Level I Pediatric Trauma Center for Northern California; an 18–24 bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU); a 16-bed Transitional Care Unit; pediatric critical care coverage for the UCSF Hyde Street Burn Center; and a growing pediatric sedation service.
This role offers a collaborative academic environment with opportunities for clinical program development, mentorship, teaching, and engagement in scholarly and quality-focused initiatives, in support of exceptional care for critically ill children.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or equivalent degree and eligibility for a California medical license
- Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics
- Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
- Prior leadership experience in an academic setting
- A strong interest in a career in academic pediatrics
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage across diverse forums
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $161,700-$344,400. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
