CBR Faculty Job Advertisement

The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology and the UCSF UC Berkeley Joint Program in Computational Precision Health (CPH) invite scientist or physician-scientist applicants with a research program in signal processing and analyses of biosignals or other signals with techniques that are applicable to human biosignals (e.g. electrocardiograms, photoplethysmography or other signals) for a faculty position. The selected candidate will be appointed at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor in any of the In Residence, HS Clinical, Clinical X, or Adjunct series depending on qualifications and interests.

Candidates with research programs focused on cardiovascular disease or cardiovascular signals are preferred, with an emphasis on developing and utilizing signal processing techniques to understand cardiovascular physiology, identify cardiovascular risk, phenotyping disease, or developing novel or improving existing diagnostic tests. The faculty member may supervise and teach residents, fellows, post-doctoral fellows and students in the UCSF Division of Cardiology, and may serve as dissertation advisor for PhD students in Computational Precision Health and, in select cases, for PhD students in other departments (e.g., EECS) at UC Berkeley Depending on best fit, successful candidates will be appointed primarily in either the UCSF’s Division of Cardiology or CPH (joint between UCSF and UC Berkeley) or jointly in both. The successful applicant would join the vibrant and growing CPH program, which includes a PhD training program and brings together the world-class expertise and computational resources of both UCSF and UC Berkeley. Successful applicants would also be joining the Center for Biosignal Research in the UCSF Division of Cardiology and a robust research infrastructure within Cardiology at UCSF.

Successful candidates may be nominated, if appropriate, to be the holder of the endowed Distinguished Professorship in Cardiology Research, in the Division of Cardiology at UCSF, as part of their faculty appointment.

Requirements:
• MD, PhD, or MD/PhD, or equivalences

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of postdoctoral experience, ideally leading to a tenure-track faculty position
• Track record of peer-reviewed publications and established research program (with track record of peer-reviewed funding) in signal processing and analysis, with preference for cardiovascular disease or cardiovascular signals

Please apply online at https://aprecruit.ucsf.edu/JPF05624 with your CV and cover letter, as well as statements of research and teaching. Applicants’ materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission. To receive full consideration, please submit all materials prior to the initial review date. However, this position will remain open until filled.
