FULL TIME TEACHING ADJUNCT FACULTY POSITION
Bioengineering & Therapeutic Sciences, University of California, San Francisco
The Department of Bioengineering & Therapeutic Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) invites applications for full-time Assistant/Associate/Full Professors in the Adjunct Professorial series (non-tenure track). A total of one adjunct faculty position is available.
The position will focus on teaching in our new Master’s degree program in Artificial Intelligence and Computational Drug Discovery and Development (AICD3), and primarily focused on artificial intelligence application in biotech, computational drug discovery, and drug development research initiatives.
We welcome applications from scientists with backgrounds in computer science and expertise in related fields including bioengineering, drug discovery and drug development, quantitative pharmacology, pharmacometrics, pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling, bioinformatics, and pharmaceutical sciences. Adjunct faculty candidates for these positions are expected to have a PhD, PharmD, MD, combined PharmD/PhD or MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree, ability to work collaboratively, commitment to departmental/school educational mission and vision , and amenable to provide support to relevant educational courses in other programs at the time of appointment.
For this position, faculty in the Adjunct Professor series will contribute primarily to teaching and have a limited responsibility for research or other creative work. These positions will be primarily focused on teaching and teaching administration, which will include curriculum planning and development, coordinating instructors, delivering instruction to students (including lecturing, small group facilitation, and research project advising), proctoring and grading, and mentoring/advising students.
Preference will be given to candidates with industry experience, a history of teaching in the health sciences, and a demonstrated ability to develop and deliver AI/ML-focused coursework. Salary/rank and appointment will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and training. UCSF seeks candidates who are committed to the mentorship of students.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $118,000-$309,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
For positions that are 50% effort or less:
See Table 2 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $90,700-$238,300.
