Position description

Full Specialist – UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center

The Incumbent will be responsible for our immunocompromised animal room, monitoring health checks and ensuring SFP-room status. The Incumbent will be executing preclinical experimental techniques, (i.e. xenograft tumor development, tumor monitor, drug treatments); collection of biosamples, (i.e. tissues, body fluids); and small animal surgeries, (i.e. PDX implantation and passaging). The Incumbent will also be preparing formulation of drugs and vehicle for in vivo delivery and propagating cells (freezing and thawing) for in vivo inoculation. The Incumbent will be communicating timely and effectively with LARC staff and collaborators to ensure animal welfare and scheduling procedures respectively.

Required Qualifications:

  • Full Specialist - terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience in in vivo preclinical studies and molecular oncology techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Our core heavily relies on teamwork: we are looking for a candidate with a highly collaborative attitude and used to working with multidisciplinary teams and different PIs.
  • Dedication to animal work as well as job accuracy and efficiency are also required.
  • Ability to work independently, trouble shooting and problem-solving is a plus.
