Associate Specialist- Yaffee Lab
Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
University of California, San Francisco

Under the supervision of Dr. Kristine Yaffe at the Center for Population Brain Health (CPBH), the Specialist will contribute to population-based research focused on the epidemiology of cognitive aging and dementia related to two new NIH awards in addition to current awards in the PI's portfolio. Our mission is to improve brain health over the life course to facilitate healthy aging.

The Specialist's key responsibilities will be to conduct brain health epidemiological research including data analysis and synthesis; preparation of materials for grant submissions, conference presentations, and academic publications as a co-author; as well as coordination of day-to-day research activities. The candidate will lead their own research project related to the grants, must have strong management skills, and the ability to adapt and address new challenges. Position is contingent upon available funding.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's or equivalent degree in research-based science (e.g., Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Psychiatry, or Neuroscience) or five to ten years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in epidemiologic and statistical methods for population-based studies
  • Proficiency with statistical programming and data analysis using STATA, SAS, R, or other statistical programs
  • Demonstrated effective written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with scientific writing and manuscript preparation
  • Demonstrated track record of scientific productivity
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in research-based science
