UCSF Fresno & VACCHCS – General Surgeon
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and VA Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS) are seeking applications for the position of General Surgeon at the VACCHCS.
Position Overview:
This is an opportunity for a joint appointment with VACCHCS and UCSF Fresno Department of Surgery, Trauma Division. Performing a broad range of general surgical procedures, including abdominal, gastrointestinal, and soft tissue surgeries. Managing preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care for surgical patients. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care to Veterans. Providing consultations to other healthcare providers regarding surgical care both at the VA and at Community Regional Medical Center. Educating and mentoring residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals in surgical techniques and patient care. Participating in clinical research initiatives and quality improvement projects.
This is an opportunity to work at the VA with possible clinical responsibilities at Community Regional Medical Center. The program is in Fresno, California a vibrant, growing and diverse city in the Central Valley.
Additionally, there are clinical research opportunities available; commitment is desirable. The candidate will serve a diverse and growing population of veterans in the Central Valley.
Qualifications:
- Board eligible or certified (preferred) in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Must have completed a AAST approved, 2-year Acute Care Surgery Fellowship or a 1-year Surgical Critical Care fellowship with subsequent faculty experience in Trauma Acute Care Surgery.
- Expertise in the full spectrum of general surgery, including laparoscopic and open procedures.
- Current and active U.S. medical license.
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, research, and education.
- A track record with eligibility for appointment as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at UCSF.

Compensation:
