Momen-Heravi Lab – Junior/Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist
Department of Orofacial Sciences

The Momen-Heravi Lab is seeking motivated Junior, Assistant, Associate, and Full Specialists to join our dynamic team and contribute to pioneering research projects. Our lab focuses on cancer biology, specifically investigating tumor microenvironment, Exosomes/extracellular vesicle biogenesis, tumor immunology, immunology of oral diseases, and periodontitis. The lab provides a very collaborative and supportive environment to develop and perform cutting-edge research.
As a team member, the candidate will be expected to:
- Contribute to cutting-edge scientific research
- Provide technical support to the research group of post-docs and scientists
- Process and analyze tumor and tissue samples
- Maintain an inventory of samples
- Assist in managing and reviewing protocols for approval
- Monitor lab facilities and equipment
- Ensure overall lab maintenance, safety, and compliance
- Support day-to-day lab operations
- Note: Occasional partial weekend hours for animal care may be required
Required Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience to be appointed at the Junior rank.
- Master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) with three or more years of research experience to be appointed at the Assistant rank.
- Master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization to be appointed at the Associate rank.
- Terminal degree (or equivalent) or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization to be appointed at the Full rank.
- Demonstrating outstanding personal initiative and originality of thought
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced, results-oriented environment
- Excellent teamwork
- Ability to convey their ideas and thoughts in an organized cohesive manner
- The ability to meet deadlines and multitask efficiently is a must
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Molecular Biology, Immunology, Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Genetics, Bioinformatics/Computer Science or related fields
- Willingness to learn advanced lab techniques
- Willingness to interact with patients and physicians for sample collection and processing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with small extracellular vesicle (sEV)-based gene research
- Experience identifying biomarkers in oral and craniofacial malignancies
- Experience with data analysis of single-cell RNA seq and spatial transcriptomics
- Experience with mouse models of oral inflammatory diseases including periodontitis
See Table 24B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $53,100-$188,200.
