Position description
Occupational, Environmental and Climate Medicine – Associate Program Director, UCSF.
The UCSF Department of Medicine is seeking a clinical faculty member for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in its multi-site Division of Occupational, Environmental and Climate Medicine (OECM). The role will include serving as the Associate Program Director (APD) to assist the Program Director in the administration of the Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM) residency, ensuring a rich learning environment and curriculum that meets ACGME requirements. Support for the APD role is 0.20 FTE. The faculty member is expected to support the rest of their time through clinical and/or research activities. Clinical activities are available at several of our outpatient sites.
The Division of OECM includes clinical services at Parnassus-Mt. Zion Hospital, the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Our faculty enjoy diverse roles, staffing clinical services (including but not limited to employee health services and occupational and environmental medicine case consultation) and participation in education and research.
Candidates must have a MD/DO with a current California license and Board Certification in OEM. A demonstrated interest in teaching, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities
In partnership with the PD, Residency Coordinator, Residency Leadership Team and faculty, the APD will conduct all of the following:
Oversee and coordinate curricula
Conduct reviews and evaluations of residents at least twice yearly to ensure that they are progressing appropriately in all competencies.
Evaluate the quality of all rotations and ensure that all Program Letters of Agreement and Training and Affiliation Agreements are up-to-date.
Lead the Industrial Hygiene summer site visit course in August each year.
Oversee Journal Clubs, Case Conference, special workshops and other curriculum to ensure that all elements are operating smoothly and to ensure the quality of the educational content.
Participate in meetings of the Clinical Competency Committee (Chair), Residency Advisory Committee and Program Evaluation Committee.
Ensure compliance with ACGME and funder responsibilities
Support successful submission of periodic reports to ACGME, including Annual Program Evaluations (APEs) and Accreditation Data System (ADS) reports. Assist with program site-visits.
Support regular reports to program funders, including but not limited to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Support funding renewal requests.
Participate in regular meetings with the UCSF Graduate Medical Education (GME) office and with other UCSF residency and fellowship programs.
Participate as an active member of the Residency Leadership Team
Provide ongoing communication to the Program Director and leadership team regarding resident performance and educational experience.
Provide back-up to the Program Director as needed.
Participate in applicant review, interviews and development of the annual rank list.
Lead the mentorship program, ensuring that all residents are paired with faculty mentors.
Participate in departmental faculty development activities, especially those devoted to the development of academic skills
Participate in departmental research and scholarly activities.
Other duties as assigned.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $127,000-$197,600. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
