Adult Hand, Upper Extremity and Musculoskeletal Reconstruction Surgeon (ACADEMIC POSITION)

Assistant, Associate, Full level

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco is recruiting a board certified or eligible hand fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in upper extremity reconstruction and microvascular free tissue transfer. A secondary trauma fellowship or shoulder elbow fellowship experience is desirable but not necessary. The candidate will provide diagnostic and interventional management with a full spectrum of musculoskeletal diagnosis for adult populations. The emphasis of the practice will be on trauma reconstruction of musculoskeletal injuries. The selected candidate will be appointed to the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank of the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical, Clinical X, or In Residence faculty series, according to experience and qualification.

The selected candidate will be expected to collaborate in investigative work that leads to publications in peer-reviewed journals and participate in both didactic and bedside teaching and mentoring activities for our medical students, residents, trauma and hand fellows. The position will be based at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (Level 1) and Washington hospital in Fremont (Level 2).

Requirements:
Applicant must have all requirements met by time of hire.

  • A valid California medical license
  • MD or DO degree (or equivalent degree) from an accredited program
  • Completed an ACGME accredited Orthopaedic Residency program
  • Completed an ACGME accredited Hand Fellowship
  • Board certification/eligibility in Orthopaedic Surgery

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5: https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2024-25/oct-2024-scales/t5-summary.pdf. The minimum base salary range for this position is $149,700 - $393,200. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The total negotiated salary for this position will include the base salary plus the negotiated component, determined at the time of offer.
