Position description
The Divisions of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy, and Sleep Medicine at UCSF are seeking visionary physician-scientists or researchers to join our faculty. There are three open-rank faculty positions, each supported by an endowed chair, that are being sought through a cluster hire initiative to enhance diversity and foster inclusive excellence in biomedical research across our three major sites- UCSF Health/Mission Bay, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and the San Francisco VA Medical Center. There is an opening for a physician scientist or researcher at each site.
The successful candidates will each be expected to establish a dynamic and interactive research program in the fields of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy, or Sleep Medicine. The research area can span clinical, translational, and basic science. The candidate will have, or seek to develop, a robust portfolio of extramural grant support and will be proposed for membership in the Biomedical Science (BMS) Graduate Program. Depending on their focus of research and best fit with the institutional environment, they will have the opportunity to join the division at either UCSF Health, ZSFG, or the SFVA.
Candidates must have an MD, a PhD, or equivalent, and a record of scientific achievement. We seek candidates who demonstrate a commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through their research, teaching, mentoring, and/or service. We are also interested in candidates who have had non-traditional career paths or who have taken time off for family reasons, or who have achieved excellence in careers outside academia.
Faculty appointment will be made at a professorial rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) commensurate with current academic standing. UCSF offers competitive salaries, research set-up funds, and recruitment allowances, and has numerous opportunities for faculty development and further training in mentorship.
If interested, please submit a curriculum vitae, cover letter, statement of research, statement of teaching, contributions to diversity statement, and contact information for three references at https://aprecruit.ucsf.edu/JPF05193. To receive full consideration, please submit all materials prior to the initial review date. However, this position will remain open until filled. For more information, contact the co-chairs of the search committee Dean Sheppard (Dean.Sheppard@ucsf.edu) or Meshell Johnson (Meshell.Johnson@ucsf.edu).
