Position description

Gastroenterology/Hepatology Clinician

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS) are seeking applications for academic positions in the Gastroenterology Section at the San Francisco VA. We are in search of an outstanding clinician who will participate in clinical and teaching activities in our outpatient clinics and inpatient wards, with an expertise in hepatology.

The San Francisco VA Health Care System provides health services to Veterans through the San Francisco VA Medical Center (SFVAMC) and seven community-based outpatient clinics. The gastroenterologist will devote their effort to patient care in general gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy at the SFVAMC and community-based clinics, as well as academic work in research, quality improvement, medical education, program development or another academic area. Applicants will have demonstrated clinical excellence along with aptitude for scholarship in clinical and educational endeavors aligned with the missions of the Division, UCSF, and the SFVAHCS.

This individual will receive an academic appointment at UCSF in either the HS Clinical, Clinical X, In Residence or Adjunct series, at a rank (Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) commensurate with their experience. They will report directly to the Chief of Gastroenterology at SFVAHCS. Applicants will have an MD, a current medical license, and board-certification in Internal Medicine. They must also be board-certified/eligible in Gastroenterology.

For positions that are 50% effort or more:
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $110,500 - $333,700. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

For positions that are 49% effort or less:
See Table 2 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $78,900 - $238,300.

For positions exclusively/ partially funded by the affiliate organization:
This position may be funded exclusively/partially by the SFVAHCS. See Veterans Affairs website for salary information: https://www.va.gov/OHRM/Pay/.
