Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated Junior and or Assistant Research Specialist to join Dr. Hui Lin's lab in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UCSF. This position is focused on processing multi-modal, high-dimensional medical data and building a glioma oncology foundation model that incorporates longitudinal multi-parametric MRI, EHR (Electronic Health Records), and molecular data. This position provides an exceptional opportunity for skill development and career growth in a cutting-edge research environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform data preprocessing and integration of multi-modal datasets, including MRI and EHR notes.
  • Develop and implement deep learning models to analyze longitudinal medical data.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including radiation oncologists, radiologists, data scientists, and bioinformaticians.
  • Assist in the preparation of research manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Present findings at lab meetings and contribute to the dissemination of research results.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of research processes and results.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants appointed at the Junior rank must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as data science, computer science, bioengineering, or a related discipline.
  • Applicants appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a master’s degree or a baccalaureate degree with 3 or more years of research experience.
  • Experience with natural language processing, deep learning and medical imaging analysis.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, C, CUDA.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with multi-modal medical data, especially EHR.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
