Position description

General Urologist

The Department of Urology at the University of California, San Francisco, is seeking to hire a full-time urologist whose primary focus is on the evaluation and management of common urologic conditions (general urology) with a special interest in the urologic health of Gay Men and robotic reconstruction. The successful candidate must hold an MD degree and be board-certified/eligible by the American Board of Urology. The position will be in the Clinical X or In Residence series at the assistant professor level. The ideal candidate must be experienced in general urology conditions with a special interest in the urologic health of Gay Men and advanced skills in robotic genitourinary reconstruction. Further expertise in benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), urinary stone disease, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), male sexual dysfunction, urinary tract infections, prostatitis, and urinary tract pain, including chronic bladder and pelvic pain syndromes, is required. An exemplary track record of patient care and a strong clinical research portfolio are required. This position will be based at the UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus as well as either outreach facilities in the East Bay or San Mateo County or one of our affiliate sites (ZSFG or SFVAMC). The candidate will work in the outpatient clinic setting for patient evaluation and office-based procedures. Operating room privileges will be granted at either the UCSF Medical Center or Affiliate Campus facilities for surgical procedures based on the Department’s needs and the candidate’s experience. The candidate must have recognized skills in the education of trainees, including but not limited to, Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows. All candidates must have or be able to obtain a California medical license. Applicants must meet all required qualifications by the time of hire. The qualified candidate should expect to drive a busy office-based clinical practice seeing patients with a broad range of general urology conditions in addition to any areas of specialty focus. The position includes opportunities to teach top-notch residents and students, drive regionalization strategy in the Bay Area, and grow a research program in clinical or implementation science related to the clinical activities described above.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $149,700-$194,200. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
