Position description

Narlikar Lab - Junior, Assistant, or Associate Specialist
Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics

In this position, you will be working as a member of a research team to study chromatin proteins and chromatin structure biochemically. You will assemble different types of chromatin templates and utilize SF9-based and E.coli based protein expression to generate different chromatin regulators. Using the chromatin templates and chromatin regulators you will work with other team members to test specific mechanistic models. This position is well-suited for individuals who have a background in the fundamentals of chemistry and biochemistry.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Generating and maintaining Sf9 cell lines and baculovirus stocks
  • Reconstituting chromatin templates, purifying chromatin regulators, carrying out enzymological and phase-separation assays
  • Participating in group meetings which include high-level scientific discussions and data interpretation

Required Qualifications:

  • For the Junior rank, a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience.
  • For the Assistant rank, a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or a baccalaureate degree with three or more years of research experience.
  • For the Associate rank, a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of research experience.
  • Highly organized, ability to pay attention to detail
  • Comfort with quantitative analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in protein purification
  • Experience in SF9 based protein expression
  • Experience in enzymological assays

See Table 24B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $51,300-$82,100.
