Position description

The Vedantham lab is now recruiting for a Full Specialist. Successful applicant will have an interest and experience in conducting research relating to cardiovascular stem cell technology and cardiovascular genetics. Specifically, investigations will focus on defining the genetic determinants of differentiation of specialized types of myocardial cells using hiPSC technology. The successful applicant will execute a broad research program focused on growing stem cell technology in the Vedantham Lab and will include probing specific developmental pathways in vitro using the hiPSC differentiation system, CRISPR screening of hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes, application of standard molecular biology techniques and next generation sequencing (scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, ChIP-Seq), and may eventually involve tissue engineering. The successful applicant will also join a vibrant and dynamic basic research community within the Cardiovascular Research Institute at UCSF. The successful application will also serve as a resource for junior lab members and will help to train other lab members in hiPSC differentiation techniques.
