Health Sciences Assistant/Associate/Full Clinical Professor

The University of California, San Francisco School of Nursing Department of Family Health Care Nursing is seeking a qualified individual for a part-time to full-time appointment as a Health Sciences Assistant/Associate/Full Clinical Professor for the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specialties within the department, including Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Pediatric Nurse Practitioner -Primary Care (PNP-PC), Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care (ACPNP), Neonatal Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist (NNP/Neo CNS), and Nurse-Midwifery (CNM) specialties.

The position may incorporate a variety of roles of variable percentage (10-100%) within teaching, clinical practice, service, and research/creative activities:

  • For teaching, the faculty will supervise, teach, and evaluate students in the classroom, skills lab, simulation, clinical, and/or community settings; develop course materials for the management of specific populations; participate in the curriculum development; identify and develop clinical placements and community clinical resources; provide academic advisement for students; and supervise students’ scholarly project.
  • For clinical practice, the faculty will serve as faculty provider at the faculty practice and/or affiliated sites to provide patient-centered care to underserved patients in interprofessional settings with APRN students. The faculty will hold a primary role in preceptor development training at the clinical sites.
  • For service, the faculty will attend specialty faculty meetings, engage in Department/School/Campus committees as assigned, and contribute to professional, community, and academic organizations and the University across Department/School/Campus levels.
  • For research/creative activities, the faculty will disseminate clinical knowledge developments and educational innovations through peer-reviewed presentations and manuscripts. Faculty may also engage in training grant-related research activities as appropriate.

Requirements:
Education/Licensure/Qualification – Minimum (required):

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Education, or other relevant fields at the time of appointment.
  • Current or eligibility for Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse-Midwife, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Midwife Furnishing license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing at the time of appointment.
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Clinical Nurse Midwife by designated certification organizations (i.e., American Nurses Credentialing Center, Pediatric Nursing Certification Board, or American Midwifery Certification Board) at the time of appointment.
  • Two (2) or more years of clinical experience as an NP, CNS, or CNM in clinical care settings at the time of appointment.
  • Applicants’ materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission.

Preferred qualification - Ideal (desired):

  • Evidence of commitment to serving the underserved in clinical settings
  • Ability to articulate and implement core tenets of equitable healthcare and education
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in clinical precepting of APRN students
  • Academic preparation in curriculum development, teaching methodologies, and supervised teaching residency/practicum
  • Experience with hybrid / online teaching
  • Evidence of teaching excellence in the classroom and/or clinical
  • Multilingual skills preferred languages: Spanish & Chinese languages
  • Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and Electronic Health Records
  • Participation and/or leadership experience in national professional organizations.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $95,200 - $297,200. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

For positions that are 50% effort or less:
See Table 2 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $86,500 - $228,600.
