Position description

General Obstetrician/Gynecologist - Academic Generalist Pathway Program - HS Clinical Instructor

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking a board certified/eligible Ob/Gyn Generalist at the level of Instructor to join the Ob/Gyn and Gyn Subspecialties (OGGS) Division in an Academic Generalist Pathway Program.

This unique position bridges the gap between completion of residency and a full-time Academic Generalist Faculty position. The individual who accepts this role will be provided robust support and mentoring around developing a Generalist Ob/Gyn practice in an academic center (including surgical and clinic mentorship) and will be offered opportunities to build and enhance their skills as a medical educator.

The primary focus will be the transition to Academic Generalist and the clinical care of general obstetrical and gynecologic patients at UCSF (60%). Clinical responsibilities will include office practice in general obstetrics and gynecology, office-based procedures, gynecological surgery and inpatient obstetrics. The successful applicant will demonstrate an aptitude for and dedication to medical education including direct teaching of medical students and residents.

The incumbent will work in collaboration with the Residency Program Director around administrative responsibilities and resident teaching/didactics (40%). Specific duties will be to support resident clinical scheduling in response to leaves and absences and to engage in resident teaching, core didactics, remediation, and individual tutoring with the goal of augmenting available learning resources and opportunities for residents.

Candidates must have demonstrated capability and experience in providing evidence-based and patient-centered OBGYN care and in collaborating and coordinating care in clinical teams that enhance the patient experience with a commitment to excellence in clinical care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction.

We welcome applications from individuals who are proficient in bilingualism, particularly Mandarin, Cantonese, or Spanish.

The successful candidate must hold an MD or DO degree and be board certified/eligible in Ob/Gyn at the time of hire. Of note, this position is intended for one year, and a successful individual in the Academic Generalist Pathway will be encouraged to apply for a full-time faculty position, with the rank of Assistant Professor Step 2, after one year.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary for this position is $104,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. UCSF Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences has a total salary plan that uses National benchmarking standards to set salaries by subspecialty.
