Position description

Junior/Assistant/Associate Specialist- Liao Lab

The Department of Dermatology is seeking a Junior, Assistant or Associate Specialist in the Liao Lab. We are an experimental and computational genomics laboratory that studies how the skin and immune system functions in human tissues. The position will consist of bioinformatics analysis and wet lab experiments. This individual will be responsible for applying bioinformatic and machine learning techniques to genomic data, which will generated through RNA-seq, proteomics, and spatial-seq experiments.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.

Specialists appointed at the junior rank must possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of equivalent research experience (e.g., with instrumentation and research equipment, social science research methods, or creative activities). Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or a bachelor’s degree with three or more years of research experience. Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of relevant experience.

A 12-month commitment to working in the lab is also required, but the position is open for longer term employment. Candidates must meet all required qualifications at the time of appointment. Candidate's CV must state basic qualifications (or if pending) upon submission.
