Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care Pediatric Anesthesiology Faculty Search at BCH Oakland
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care is seeking pediatric anesthesiology faculty to work at Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland (BCH Oakland) as a part of a team emphasizing high quality, patient-centered perioperative care with a focus on evidence-based medicine. This is an outstanding opportunity to practice 100% pediatric anesthesiology and join an established Anesthesia Department with a national reputation of excellence in education, research, and perioperative care.
We are enormously proud of our tradition of excellent patient care, research, and education. Our department is committed to supporting our people through a culture and work environment that fosters well-being. We recognize that a systems approach is necessary to succeed, and we are dedicated to creating positive work and learning environments that allow all clinicians to thrive. We cultivate well-being which aligns with the strategic priorities of UCSF Health under the True North Pillar, “Our People.
Anesthesia faculty participate on a team of approximately 20 faculty members working at BCH Oakland as a part of the UCSF Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care. In addition to pediatric operating room care, the pediatric division in Oakland has essential roles in patient care outside of the operating rooms, with active participation in Ambulatory Care, Acute and Chronic Pain, the Preoperative Clinic and the BCH Oakland Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. UCSF Health encompasses five main campuses -- the UCSF Helen Diller Medical Center at Parnassus Heights, the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (a Level 1 Trauma Center), Mt. Zion Medical Center, Benioff Children’s in Oakland, and Benioff Children's, Betty Irene Moore Women's and Bakar Cancer Hospitals at Mission Bay, as well as a pediatric ambulatory surgery center in Walnut Creek. BCH Oakland Anesthesia faculty may have the opportunity to work at these additional medical centers, if desired.
Successful applicants are board certified/board eligible in pediatric anesthesiology and demonstrate an aptitude for and dedication to medical education and providing evidence based, high quality care in clinical teams that enhance the patient experience with a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction. Applicants are expected to teach residents and medical students; participate in University service, faculty meetings, monthly Grand Rounds and M&M conferences; contribute to quality assurance programs and continuing education; and advance the mission of the department.
UCSF seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence. Our department philosophy is aligned with UCSF campus leadership in the areas of recruiting and retaining individuals traditionally under-represented in the health sciences, LGBTQ, and individuals with disabilities, to better reflect the diversity of the population we serve in the San Francisco Bay Area. We further recognize that successfully recruiting people to join our enterprise is not the end of the story. It is also critical that we provide an environment in which all individuals in our workforce and trainee programs experience a professional, supportive, collaborative and open environment and have the opportunity to thrive. We are dedicated to the ongoing pursuit of these goals.
The successful candidate must meet all the following qualifications by time of hire:
