Pediatric Dermatologist: Assistant/Associate/Professor of Dermatology (HS Clinical, Clinical X, In Residence)
Location: UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland
Description: We are seeking a board certified or eligible pediatric dermatologist with demonstrated excellence in patient care, teaching and scholarship for a position at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. Primary responsibilities are patient care and teaching. Patient care will occur in the context of pediatric dermatology outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations including inpatient call coverage. Clinics will be located at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland (BCH Oakland) and at the UCSF Shadelands clinic in Walnut Creek. Opportunities to perform basic dermatologic surgery and laser surgery are available. In addition to clinical care, applicants should anticipate an active role in teaching, scholarship, leadership and service. The position will involve a significant educational component via bedside, formal and informal teaching of learners including primarily pediatric residents based at Children's Hospital Oakland. Scholarship- either clinical or educational- in an area of the faculty’s choosing and participation and presentation at local, regional and national meetings is encouraged. Mentoring opportunities for clinical care, scholarship, leadership and teaching are readily available. Applicant will participate in the administrative operations of the BCH Oakland Section of the Division of Pediatric Dermatology within the UCSF Department of Dermatology and will be encouraged to actively serve on divisional and departmental committees.
Requirements: Board certification in Dermatology and Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Dermatology by the time of appointment. Ability to diagnose and manage complex pediatric dermatology outpatients and inpatients including those with inflammatory, vascular, infectious, pigmentary, congenital and acquired diseases is mandatory. Basic surgical procedural skills and knowledge of laser surgery is important but not required. Experience working with diverse patient populations is preferred.
