Job Description for position in Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases, and Global Medicine (Associate Medical Director, Ward 86)

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Department of Medicine, Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) is seeking an academic leader to serve in a leadership clinical position within our group. We seek qualified applicants to serve as the Associate Medical Director of the Ward 86 HIV Clinic at ZSFG, and an HIV and Infectious Diseases provider and leader. Candidate may be appointed at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the HS Clinical or Clinical X faculty series depending on qualifications and interests.

Faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series are salaried appointees in the health sciences who teach, participate in patient care, and participate in academic, scholarly, clinical, and operational activities, and will have university, public service, and creative interactions.

Appointees in the Clinical X series are full-time academic employees of the university whose main responsibilities are in clinical service, teaching, dissemination, and creative activities.

Faculty will serve in four central roles: (1) Associate Medical Director of ZSFG’s Ward 86 HIV Clinic, a large, urban HIV primary care clinic serving over 2700 patients. Role will include operational management of the clinic, serving as an HIV primary care clinician, and educating students, residents and fellows. (2) Advisor to affiliate hospital Laguna Honda Hospital infectious diseases outpatient clinic. Role includes being available to clinicians for advice on ID management and infection control. (3) Clinician and educator in the ZSFG infectious diseases clinic. Role includes 2 clinics per month and clinic education activities. (4) Medical education to medical students, residents, and infectious disease fellows in our clinical sites.

Required qualifications:
• MD, active medical licensure, and board certification in Infectious Diseases
• Prior work showing accomplishments in HIV and infectious diseases clinical service delivery, operational management, teaching and education, and scholarship
• Interest in serving the needs of vulnerable populations

Preferred/Desirable qualifications
• Spanish language proficiency
• Proficiency with Epic clinical platform, and standard software packages including Office
• Data analytic skills, including experience with database management, data analysis, and experience with publication and dissemination of clinical experiences and/or research findings

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $121,100-$189,500. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
