Assistant, Associate, or Full Specialist – Raleigh Lab
The UCSF Brain Tumor Center Preclinical Core has an Assistant, Associate or Full Specialist position available, and highly motivated individuals with laboratory research experience are being recruited. The Preclinical Core has a long track record of innovative, translational research of brain tumor biology, and the Assistant, Associate, or Full Specialist position is advertised to facilitate the biologic aims of a prospective clinical trial to identify and deliver novel molecular therapeutics to brain tumor patients.
This position will be responsible for cell culture, molecular biology (RNA and DNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, protein extraction, recombinant DNA manipulation), gel electrophoresis (DNA and protein), immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, light field microscopy, data analysis, mouse husbandry, pre-clinical therapeutic animal experimentation, single-cell and bulk RNA sequencing analysis, lineage tracing expertise.
Required Qualifications:
- Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a master’s degree in Biology or a baccalaureate degree in Biology with 3 or more years of research experience.
- Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) in Biology or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.
- Specialists appointed at the full rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) in Biology or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization.
- Familiarity and experience with biochemistry and mechanisms underlying brain tumor biology. -Expertise with cell culture and molecular biology are required.
- 2+ years of experience in lab.
- Will need to be able to work within a team.
- Capable of adapting quickly to accommodate the overall scientific aims of the group.
- Exceptional time management.
- Lab notebook maintenance, data analysis, and lab organization experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-graduate training in field.
- Experience with In vitro assays.
- DNA and RNA Isolation.
- Grant and manuscript writing experience.
- Experience overseeing the work of laboratory trainees.
Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
See Table 24B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $59,200 - $181,800.
