Position description

Assistant Researcher- Bose Lab
Department of Anatomy

The lab of Rohit Bose MD PhD at UCSF (http://boselab.bio) is run by a practicing physician-scientist focused on understanding how tumors evolve under different therapeutic and environments. The lab focuses on using clinically relevant immunocompetent cancer models to develop & test novel therapeutic strategies. Although primarily a lab-focused position, the candidate will also interface with clinical teams regarding patient data & samples.

This is a position geared towards high-performing scientists interested in joining the Bose Lab at UCSF. In most cases, applicants will have completed a postdoctoral fellowship. It exists to both broaden the lab’s scientific enterprise, and to enrich existing scientific projects. The key roles of this position are to: I) develop self-initiated projects which includes performing experiments, data analysis, manuscript writing, and grant construction; and II) to serve as an expert and assist other Bose Lab members in driving their projects forwards.

Such a candidate should function well with minimal supervision. Project and manuscript design will be a collaborative act, ultimately at the principal investigator’s discretion. Academic excellence is the priority of the lab. Thus, the candidate will be expected to apply for, and garner funding for the Bose Lab. Self-initiated projects should be completed before future transitions, as defined by manuscript acceptance following peer review.
