Job Description

A specialist position is available in Dr Liao’s laboratory (https://liaolab.ucsf.edu) in the UCSF Department of Dermatology. The position will support research projects focused on disease mechanisms of inflammatory skin disease, with the goal to identify novel therapeutic strategies. The specialist will perform standard molecular cell biology experiments including isolation of DNA and RNA from tissues and cells, PCR, single cell library preparation, and staining of slides for spatial transcriptomics studies. We are looking for motivated candidates with the desire to work in a team at the frontier of research and precision medicine.

Required Qualifications:

  • Junior- Specialists must possess a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • Assistant- A master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with 3 or more years of research experience.
  • Associate- A master’s degree (or equivalent) or five to ten years of research experience
  • Full- a terminal degree (or equivalent) or ten or more years of research experience
  • Experience in working in molecular biology laboratory
  • Experience in DNA and RNA isolation
  • Candidates must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment.
  • Candidate’s CV/cover must state required qualifications (or if pending) upon submission.

Preferred Qualifications, particularly for more senior positions:

  • Experience in single cell -omics technologies
  • Experience in microscopy
  • Scientific curiosity and a strong motivation to contribute to the field.
  • At least two (2) years of previous research experience
