Obstetrics Specialist - Assistant, Associate or Full Professor
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking a board certified/eligible Obstetrician-Gynecologist to serve as an Obstetrics Specialist at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor to join the Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) or OB/Gyn & Gyn Subspecialties (OGGS) Division.
The primary focus of the Obstetrics Specialist will be the clinical care of obstetrical patients at UCSF. Clinical responsibilities will include office practice in general obstetrics, office-based procedures, and/or inpatient obstetrics. The inpatient responsibility is the clinical care of obstetric patients at UCSF Mission Bay. Clinical duties include day and night L&D shifts. Shifts include a balance of days, nights, weekends and holidays. There is also an exciting opportunity for interested and qualified candidates to become part of the Multidisciplinary Approach to the Placenta Service (MAPS), which provides perioperative and surgical care to all placenta accreta spectrum cases. The successful applicant must demonstrate an aptitude for and dedication to medical education including direct teaching of medical students and residents.
L&D shift responsibilities include:
- Attendance on L&D: primary or assistant surgeon in cesarean sections, operative and spontaneous vaginal deliveries
- Attendance in OB Emergency Department: direct patient care as primary provider and/or supervision of trainees, CNMs and NPs
- Attendance in postpartum: direct patient care of the complicated postpartum service and serving as a consultant to the postpartum NP and CNM team that cares for uncomplicated postpartum patients
- Follow-up on test results
- Responding to OB answering service calls
- Participating in QI initiatives
- Teaching hospitalist fellows, residents, and medical students
Candidates must have demonstrated capability and experience in providing evidence-based and patient-centered ObGyn care and in collaborating and coordinating care in clinical teams that enhance the patient experience with a commitment to excellence in clinical care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction.
The successful candidate must also hold an MD or DO degree and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ob/Gyn. A minimum of 3 years post-residency experience or completion of an Ob/Gyn Hospitalist fellowship or demonstrated exceptional interest and/or leadership in hospital medicine is preferred. Experience in high volume, high-risk obstetrics is also preferred.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $115,100-$305,900. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
