Position description

The University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry, Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences, is seeking a part-time or full-time faculty member in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series (at the ranks of Assistant or Associate Professor) to support its teaching programs in endodontics. The appointment will be in the Department’s Division of Endodontics.

Primary duties will include pre-doctoral, pre-clinical and clinical instructions, including lectures and seminar activities covering all areas of endodontics including diagnosis, treatment planning and endodontic procedures. Position also includes opportunities for faculty practice.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a DDS/DMD or an equivalent degree.
  • Must have completed a postgraduate endodontic program.
  • Must have a current or be eligible for dental licensure or special permit in the State of California.
  • Significant understanding of higher education.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and relationship orientation; ability to partner, influence others, and create a highly collaborative culture which enables effective communication and knowledge sharing, but also ownership and accountability for results.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality is critical.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience as a licensed practicing endodontic provider.
  • Experience with the continuum of dental education.
  • Completed a postgraduate endodontic program that allows certification by the American Board of Endodontists.
  • Previous predoctoral and/or postgraduate endodontic teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and evaluating programs and efforts.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5: https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2022-23/oct-2022-salary-scales/t5-summary.pdf. The minimum base salary range for this position is $106,900-$168,200. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
