Position description

Davis Lab-Junior or Assistant Specialist

We seek to hire a research assistant to work with current graduate students and postdocs in our neurobiological lab focused on neurons and non-neuronal cells in the cerebral cortex. This researcher will be involved in experiments using advanced imaging approaches to probe cell and circuit physiology. Responsibilities may include stereotaxic surgeries to deliver viruses to specific anatomical sites in the mouse brain, imaging and electrophysiological experiments and analyses, immunohistochemistry, mouse husbandry, and other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time position, but there is start-date flexibility for the right candidate. This would be an ideal position for a recent or upcoming graduate seeking to gain laboratory research experience using state-of-the-art techniques in neuroscience prior to applying to graduate school, and it is our intention for the selected candidates to contribute meaningfully to projects and co-author peer-reviewed publications.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
