Position description

The Department of Medicine, Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine is seeking an HIV and Infectious Disease Physician Leader for a full time faculty position. The selected candidate will be appointed at the level of Assistant or Associate level in the HS Clinical or Clinical X series depending on qualifications and interests.

Faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series are salaried appointees in the health sciences who teach, participate in patient care, and participate in University and/or public service and scholarly and/or creative activities. Faculty in this series teach the application of basic sciences and the mastery of clinical procedures in all areas concerned with the care of patients.

Appointees in the Clinical X series are full-time academic employees of the University and are assigned to academically qualified individuals whose predominant responsibilities are in teaching and clinical service, and who also engage in creative activities.

The incumbent will serve as an HIV/ID clinician educator. Specific roles include serving as Associate Medical Director of ZSFG’s Ward 86 HIV Clinic, the director of the Infectious Disease Clinic and Infection Control at Laguna Honda Hospital, an HIV and primary care clinician at Ward 86, and consult attending on the inpatient HIV/ID consult service at ZSFG. The incumbent will teach and mentor fellows and residents in HIV and Infectious Diseases in these various roles. The faculty member will supervise and teach residents, fellows and medical students in HIV, Infectious Diseases and General Internal Medicine.

Requirements:
• Qualifications required to be hired for the position include an MD, board certified in Infectious Diseases, and a body of work demonstrating accomplishment in the area of HIV and general Infectious Diseases. They will also have clinical teaching expertise in HIV, Infectious Diseases, and practicing Medicine in the context of vulnerable populations.

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications
• Qualifications that are desirable, but not the minimum required in order to be considered for the job (e.g. familiarity with, ability to, understand of and knowledge of). Demonstration of excellence in teaching would be a desirable qualification.
