The Gladstone Institutes are a renowned center of excellence focused on leading-edge science to overcome disease. We are an independent, not-for-profit research organization affiliated with the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and located in an award winning building at UCSF’s Mission Bay Campus. We aim to contribute to the health and wellbeing of all people through research, education and outreach in the areas of neuroscience, brain disorders, cardiovascular disease, stem cell technology, virology and immunology.

We invite applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Senior Investigator at the Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease. The successful candidate will have joint appointments as Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the In Residence faculty series in the Department of Neurology or another suitable Department, and in relevant Graduate Training Programs at UCSF. Primary criteria for appointment will be outstanding records of innovative research, academic performance and commitment to disease-focused neuroscience. Of particular interest are applicants who are using systems biology, single cell analysis, computational approaches, and/or cellular and molecular neuroscience to unravel mechanisms of major brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and related conditions. Demonstrated ability to attract independent grant support is another selection criterion. Additional requirements include a medical or doctoral degree, and at least four years of teaching/mentoring experience (during residency, fellowship, and/or in the lab) by the time the appointment becomes effective.

Candidates must apply online at https://aprecruit.ucsf.edu/apply/JPF02164, with a cover letter, CV, Statement of Contributions to Diversity, Statement of Research, and the names, titles, and e-mail addresses of three references who we may contact directly. Applications received outside of the online process cannot be considered, but informal inquiries can be directed to Katerina Akassoglou at kakassoglou@gladstone.ucsf.edu.

The recruitment effort will continue until the position is filled; to ensure full consideration, interested individuals should apply by December 31, 2018.
