Position description

Associate Specialist- Morgan Lab

The Department of Physiology is now recruiting for an Associate Specialist. The candidate will be responsible for experiments aimed at understanding the biochemical mechanisms of signaling in the budding yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The work will center on the regulation of an important regulatory enzyme, Protein Phosphatase 2A (PP2A), which is involved in the control of many cell processes and particularly in cell division. The project will unravel the mechanisms by which PP2A is controlled by phosphorylation at specific sites, and how this regulation influences its roles in cell division.

Required qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, or related field, with significant publications arising out of graduate work.
  • Several years of postdoctoral experience in the genetic and biochemical analysis of signaling mechanisms in budding yeast.

Preferred qualification:

  • Post-graduate training in field
  • Independent research
