Neonatologist or Neonatal Hospitalist

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is recruiting two board-certified Neonatologists or Neonatal Hospitalists at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank in the Health Sciences Clinical or Clinical X series for full-time positions in the Infant Care Center at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. The candidates will provide neonatal clinical care in the Community Level III nursery at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG), a University-affiliated public teaching hospital. One person will be recruited to serve as Medical Director of the unit.

The successful candidates will be members of the UCSF Pediatric division at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, a group of 40 faculty members who are dedicated to scholarship, patient care, and medical education. Preference will be given to candidates who have outstanding clinical skills, experience and interest in working with urban, underserved patients, experience with multidisciplinary teamwork, demonstrated leadership skills, and a commitment to academic medicine.

For both positions, clinical duties include attending in the Infant Care Center at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and possibly at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital-San Francisco. Non-clinical activities include teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and chief residents as well as program and policy development, quality improvement programs, service on medical staff, departmental and university committees, and other academic activities.

The candidate who is recruited to serve as Medical Director of the Infant Care Center will provide leadership for the academic, clinical, quality, and educational activities within the unit. The Medical Director also participates in leadership activities for the entire Pediatric service and collaborates closely with the Chief of Service.

Minimum qualifications:
• Board certified in Neonatology OR at least 2 years’ experience as a Neonatal Hospitalist in a Level III nursery
• Board certified in General Pediatrics (neonatal hospitalists)
• NRP certification

Desired qualifications:
• Additional language proficiency (especially Spanish or Cantonese)
• Experience and demonstrated commitment in working with urban, underserved patients
• Demonstrated skills and interest in medical education

Additional desired qualifications for the medical director position:
• Leadership skills and demonstrated experience in leadership roles
• Experience in quality improvement and/or clinical-translational research
