Research technician/laboratory manager position
The Willenbring laboratory in the Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research at the University of California San Francisco is seeking to fill a position as a research technician and laboratory manager (http://willenbringlab.surgery.ucsf.edu). The laboratory studies reprogramming and stem cells in liver regeneration and cancer (Schaub, Nature 2018; Rezvani, Cell Stem Cell 2016).
Responsibilities include monitoring, ordering and stocking of supplies, maintenance of equipment, breeding and genotyping of transgenic mice and rats, and contribution to research projects using human pluripotent stem cells, humanized mice and adenoassociated viral vectors.
Minimum qualifications for the position are a bachelor in biology or a related discipline with 2 years of (undergraduate) laboratory experience, proficiency in standard molecular and cell biology techniques, effective oral and written communication, good organizational and interpersonal skills, analytical thinking, proficiency with Mac and PC platforms, ability to multitask in a deadline-oriented environment and willingness to make a 2-year commitment to the laboratory.
Appointees in the specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in university and public service.
