Associate Specialist- Stroud Lab
The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics is now recruiting for an Associate Specialist. The primary area of research required in this position is the expression, purification, functional assays and structure determination of integral protein structure and function, specifically on a family of human proteins that are important in their interactions with proteins of HIV. Several of these include transmembrane proteins. These will be studied using electron cryo microscopy, X-ray crystallography and other biophysical methods as needed to define their interactions with cellular proteins.
The qualified candidate must possess a PhD and experience in developing expression and purification of proteins, biophysical characterization of proteins by NMR spectroscopy and protein crystallography.
Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
