The UCSF Department of Pathology is searching for a Project Manager for the UCSF Immunoprofiler (http://www.immunoprofiler.org/) and ImmunoX Initiative.
The candidate will manage a university-wide, clinical-translational study seeking to identify classes of immune pathologies within diseased and healthy human biopsies. The candidate will help to establish untapped streams of immune-related disease biopsies (such as neurodegeneration, cancer, chronic viral disease, and autoimmunity). The candidate will be intimately involved with a team comprising approximately 40 members with day-to-day interactions with approximately 8-12 laboratory-based scientists and computational biologists. The candidate will regularly engage with the 6-8 technology cores to ensure optimal tissue study and data capture into an interactive, open-access database. The candidate will engage in weekly meetings with laboratory and clinical team members to participate in and ensure consistent sample access and processing.
This position is classified as a Research Specialist (Full or Associate Level). Specialist appointed at the Associate rank must possess a master’s or PhD-level degree (or equivalent degree) in biological sciences or bioinformatics or five to ten years of research experience. Specialist appointed at the full rank must possess a doctorate degree (or equivalent) in biological sciences or bioinformatics or ten or more years research experience. Working knowledge of best practices in a biological laboratory setting are preferred, for example at least 1 year of experience with cell isolation from tissues, single-cell cytometry, and RNA/exome sequence analysis. Post-graduate training in relevant field is preferred.
