Associate Specialist in Chang Lab

The Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking an Associate Specialist. Over 12 months, the incumbent will conduct a feasibility study for the design and fabrication of a medical device. This feasibility study will include researching commercially available components to assess functionality compared to the desired parameters. All findings will be documented monthly in report form. Reports should include all technical detail potentially relevant to decision-making for design and sourcing/fabrication activities. The incumbent will also provide background information, if/as needed, to ensure clear understanding of core engineering concepts and considerations included in the reports to the laboratory team.

Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) in engineering or related field or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization. Required skills include working understanding of signal analysis. Good communication and organization skills will be necessary for study related interactions. We prefer candidates with knowledge of medical device design, ASIC design and/or embedded systems. Independent specialized research is preferred.
