The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco, is recruiting a Director of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The Division provides full service obstetrical care, perinatal consultations, prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling, and includes prenatal specialty clinics for management of maternal cardiac disease, diabetes/obesity, and invasive fetal therapy consultation. We have a robust outreach program, and serve as a referral center for maternal transports for much of Northern California. We also have an accredited and competitive fellowship program in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and a combined program in MFM/Genetics. The Division has active ongoing research through the University of California Fetal Maternal Consortium, a major Preterm Birth Initiative, a new Center for Maternal Fetal Precision Medicine, and basic/translational investigation into placental biology and also environmental effects on maternal and child health.
UCSF has a long history of vibrant basic, translational and clinical research. The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences is internationally respected and provides an infrastructure that facilitates success. In addition, there is an outstanding clinical MFM practice, a vibrant fetal intervention program, and a multitude of opportunities for collaboration. UCSF has just opened the new Betty Irene Moore Women’s Hospital at our state-of-the-art Mission Bay Campus. We are seeking candidates who have a vision to advance the subspecialty of maternal and fetal medicine.
The position requires board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in the subspecialty of Maternal Fetal Medicine, outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, experience in academic medicine, and a strong commitment to excellence in clinical care, research, education, service, mentoring, operations, and financial management. Candidates must also have a vision for obstetrics and perinatal genetics in the context of the new women’s hospital and in the changing health care delivery and research environments and new care teams and models of care. A balance of clinical and administrative duties and research is anticipated. Academic rank is dependent on qualifications, experience and achievements.
