Description

The UCSF Brain Tumor Center Preclinical Core has a Specialist position available at the Junior, Assistant, Associate and Full level. Highly motivated individuals with laboratory research experience are being recruited. The Preclinical Core has a long track record of innovative, translational research of brain tumor biology, and the Specialist position is advertised to facilitate the biologic aims of a prospective clinical trial to identify and deliver novel molecular therapeutics to brain tumor patients.

Specialists appointed at the junior rank must possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience (e.g., with instrumentation and research equipment, social science research methods, or creative activities). Specialists appointed at the Assistant or Associate rank at minimum must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or at least five years of research experience. Specialist appointed at the Full rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of research experience. Expertise with cell culture and molecular biology are required, and familiarity with brain organoid and patient-derived xenograph mouse models are encouraged, but not required. Projects will center around modeling human brain tumors in vitro and in vivo to facilitate the identification and characterization of patient-specific targets for molecular therapy. Applicants will be expected to work in a collaborative setting with the other members of the Preclinical Core staff, as well as members of the clinical trial team, including neuro-oncologists, radiation oncologists neuro-pathologists and neurosurgeons.
