Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Section, San Francisco VA Health Care System
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS) are seeking applications for the position of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Section Chief at the SFVAHCS. The SFVAHCS Pulmonary program is one of three sites within the UCSF Pulmonary program, and the VA Section Chief fills a major leadership role within the division. Support for the VA Pulmonary Section Chief position will include substantial resources to continue and grow a robust research program. The VA Pulmonary Section is a critical component of the integrated UCSF Pulmonary Program that has been an international leader in pulmonary and critical care research and training for more than 5 decades. The Chief will have the opportunity to work closely with the Lung Biology Center, the Cardiovascular Research Institute and the SABRE center for basic research in asthma and will be a member of the executive committee of the UCSF Pulmonary Training Grant, a 13 slot NHLBI grant now in its 41st year. She/he will also be on the Executive Committee of the Nina Ireland Program for Lung Health that distributes ~ $2 million endowment income each year to support pulmonary research and training at all UCSF sites.
This individual will be appointed in the Clinical X or In Residence Professor series at UCSF and report directly to the Chief of the Medical Service at the SFVAHCS. Qualified applicants will have an MD, current Medical License and be board-certified/eligible in both Internal Medicine and Pulmonary. The ideal candidate will be suitable for academic appointment at UCSF at the level of associate or full professor, as evidenced by a strong track record of extramural funding, publication, teaching, and clinical excellence. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated leadership skills and success in mentorship.
