The Departments of Pathology at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the University of California, San Francisco are seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time position at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center with service, research, and teaching responsibilities primarily in surgical pathology, cytopathology and autopsy service. This position will hold a volunteer faculty appointment at the University of California, San Francisco at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the HS Clinical or Clinical X series.
Candidates must have an MD (or equivalent) degree, be licensed to practice in California (or another state), and be Board Certified (or eligible at the time of hire) in Anatomic Pathology. Candidates must also have fellowship training in Surgical Pathology, Gastrointestinal Pathology, Cytopathology, Dermatopathology, or other Anatomic Pathology subspecialty area. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Clinical duties will include sign-out responsibilities in surgical pathology, cytopathology, autopsy service, frozen section coverage, performance of fine needle aspiration including inpatient FNA service and outpatient FNA clinic coverage, night and weekend call, and presentation at tumor boards and interdepartmental conferences. Participation in teaching (including resident training in Anatomic Pathology and medical student teaching), research, and practice quality improvement activities is highly expected.
