Recruitment for Tenure Track Faculty in Physiological Nursing
The School of Nursing is ranked first in NIH funding among Schools of Nursing in the United States. The Department of Physiological Nursing is one of four academic departments in the school. In addition, the School has an Organized Research Unit, the Institute for Health and Aging.
Faculty members in the Department of Physiological Nursing are engaged in research generating knowledge about mechanisms underlying disease states and symptomology, and the clinical management of specific symptoms. Areas of faculty expertise include symptom management, genetics, bioengineering, and technology.
Within the Department of Physiological Nursing, the successful candidate will teach, conduct research, and participate in service activities. Areas of interest include but are not limited to: symptom management, chronic disease management, transition in care, oncology, palliative care, bio/informatics, epigenetics/genomic research, m/eHealth and health disparities specifically or related to one of the areas mentioned.
Basic Qualifications:
PhD in Nursing or related health field
Prior experience in academic teaching
Demonstrated history of scientific writing in peer reviewed publications
History of obtaining extra-mural research grants
Preferred Qualifications
One to two years of post-doctoral experience
Successful candidate will be recommended for Assistant/ Associate or Full Professor in the Ladder Rank/Tenure track series depending on their qualifications. Commitment to participate in an academic environment with a strong faculty governance structure; and commitment to share in the UCSF mission to advance health worldwide is expected.
