Position description

Professional Researcher
Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health

Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH), part of the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health at the University of California, San Francisco, is seeking a Professional Researcher to conduct research and data analysis on several contraceptive and unintended pregnancy-related studies. ANSIRH is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to rigorous, innovative research on complex issues that affect people’s reproductive lives.

For this position, we are looking for a quantitatively-trained researcher with a Ph.D. in demography, sociology, epidemiology, public health, health services research or health economics, although researchers from other disciplines will be considered. We are interested in researchers with expertise in the following areas: unintended pregnancy, contraceptive and/or abortion access, or reproductive health inequities. Candidates must have outstanding academic writing skills and a strong background in epidemiologic study design and quantitative data analysis.

The researcher will work on several data analyses and scientific publications on unintended pregnancy and social inequities. Studies include a contraceptive attitude measure development study, a randomized trial on contraceptive education, a national survey of abortion attitudes, and the Attitudes and Decision-Making After Pregnancy Testing (ADAPT) study, which examines how unintended pregnancy affects women’s and infants’ health and well-being.

The researcher will work directly with Dr. Corinne Rocca, Assistant Professor and epidemiologist, and other members of the team to design and conduct research on unintended pregnancy. Responsibilities will include conducting literature reviews, data analyses, presenting at scientific conferences and publishing papers in the peer-reviewed literature.

Interested applicants should apply online through AP Recruit (https://aprecruit.ucsf.edu/apply/JPF01285): current curriculum vitae, diversity statement, a writing sample on which you were first author for a paper or a report, and a cover letter describing qualifications, interests and availability. Applicants are also asked to provide the contact information for three references. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents at the time of application. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and training.

UC San Francisco seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.

The University of California is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age or protected veteran status.
