Position description

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a research specialist in the Alliston lab. This individual will work with the PI to manage and expand the core services offered by the UCSF Skeletal Biology and Biomechanics Core. He/she will also assist in preparing study reports, analyzing study data, internal IRB, IACUC and BUA applications and revisions, developing slide presentations, posters, figures and tables for grants and publications, and also prepare scientific presentations.

Candidate appointed at the Assistant or Associate rank must at minimum have a master’s degree in biological sciences or related field, with expertise in skeletal biology. Appointees at the Full rank must have a PhD in biological sciences or related field, with expertise in skeletal biology. Additionally, candidate must have experience conducting basic research in skeletal biology including advanced analyses of skeletal cell function using cell lines as well as tissue sections, nucleic acids, and proteins from human or mouse mineralized tissues. Knowledge of molecular biology, bone histology, and immunohistochemistry is essential. Expertise in technical troubleshooting and scientific leadership are critical to this position. Advanced experience in skeletal biology is required is essential.
