UCSF FRESNO PSYCHIATRY FACULTY POSITION

The University of California San Francisco Fresno Medical Education Program (UCSF Fresno) and VA Central California Health Care System (VA) are seeking candidates for a 1.0 FTE faculty position at the VA in Fresno. The physician (Geriatric Psychiatrist) is primarily an outpatient clinic position with additional opportunities to provide mental health consultation for older adults who are on inpatient medical, surgical services conduct ECT evaluations and provide coverage in the inpatient psychiatry unit, Community Living Center (CLC), and the Home Based Primary Care team. There are also opportunities to provide telehealth services to outlying Community Based Outpatient Clinics and to veteran's homes.

The VA is a core training site for UCSF Fresno Residency training program in numerous specialties and fellowships including psychiatry. With a faculty appointment, opportunities for resident supervision, teaching and clinical research will be available and encouraged. Board certification in adult psychiatry is required. Fellowship training in geriatric psychiatry is ideal and at the minimum experience treating elderly Mental Health and/or dementia patients is strongly preferred. California licensed or eligible to obtain a California license.

The program is based in Fresno, California, where residents enjoy a high standard of living combined with a low cost of living. While there is much to see and do in Fresno, the city is ideally located for fast, convenient getaways to the majestic Sierra (just 90 minutes away) as well as the scenic Central Coast, just two and one-half hours away. Fresno is the only major city in the country with close proximity to three national parks, including renowned Yosemite National Park.
