Position description

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Care is recruiting faculty to join the Department with a key role in providing clinical service and teaching services, specifically in pediatric cardiac anesthesia care.

In order to accommodate growing clinical needs, the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care at UCSF Medical Center Benioff Children’s Hospital is seeking dedicated, energetic and creative individuals to join its team at the new Mission Bay Benioff Children’s Hospital. Our team provides anesthesia care for children undergoing approximately 400 cardiac surgical procedures, 525 diagnostic and/or interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, 150 electrophysiological studies as well as noninvasive cardiac imaging. In addition we provide care for children with congenital heart disease undergoing non-cardiac surgery as well as a growing population of adults with congenital heart disease.

Applicants for these positions must hold an M.D. or its equivalent, and be either Board Eligible or Board Certified. Applicants must also have or be eligible for a valid California Medical License and Drug Enforcement Agency certificate.
Applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in either pediatric anesthesiology or cardiothoracic anesthesiology as well as additional focused training in pediatric cardiac anesthesiology or demonstrate significant ongoing experience in providing anesthetic care for children undergoing cardiac surgical and catheterization procedures. Established experience or fellowship training in pediatric cardiac anesthesiology is required.

The position includes an academic appointment with UCSF School of Medicine. The academic rank is commensurate with training and experience.
