Position Summary:
The Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences, University of California San Francisco, is seeking an Adjunct Assistant Professor without salary. This position is ideal for a highly motivated and dedicated individual who possesses a deep understanding of molecular virology, medicinal chemistry, and virological research, specifically relating to HBV and SARS-CoV-2. The successful candidate will contribute to our academic community through collaborative research, mentorship of students, and participation in departmental activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in collaborative research projects and initiatives within the department and with external partners.
- Mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students, guiding them in research methodology, project execution, and scientific writing.
- Facilitate seminars and workshops on current research topics and advanced techniques in molecular virology and medicinal chemistry.
- Contribute to the academic enrichment of the department by participating in curriculum development and offering guest lectures in relevant courses.
- Maintain active engagement with ongoing professional development and research publication.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy/Doctor of Philosophy (PharmD/PhD) Joint Degree from an accredited institution.
- Proven research expertise in molecular virology, medicinal chemistry, and related fields as evidenced by a strong publication record and significant contributions to the scientific community.
- Experience in leading and managing research projects, particularly those involving SARS-CoV-2 and HBV.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and train students and junior researchers.
- Experience in developing and optimizing laboratory protocols and safety procedures.
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to engage effectively with both academic and industry partners.
Preferred Skills:
- Expertise in the design and execution of machine learning platforms for viral protein variant prediction.
- Experience in high-throughput screening and reverse genetics systems.
- Proficiency in the use of molecular modeling software and bioinformatics tools.
- Record of intellectual property contributions and innovation in virology research.
