Position description

The Greenhouse Lab is now recruiting for an Associate Specialist. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing a set of activities related to bioinformatic pipelines, data analysis, and software development related to malaria molecular surveillance. The candidate will responsible for independently evaluating and choosing between multiple approaches for solving complicated problems in data analysis, transition, and visualization and applying best practices from a software development standpoint. Given the complexity of work involved, the candidate must have multiple years of real world experience working with pathogen genomic data, ideally amplicon sequencing data from Plasmodium falciparum or another eukaryotic pathogen.

Required qualifications:
• Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or at least five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.

Preferred qualifications:
• Post-graduate training in field.
• Management experience.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
