Agard Lab – Full Specialist
Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics
UC San Francisco

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics is seeking a Full Specialist to join the Agard Lab. The responsibilities of Specialist include, but not limited to, carrying out structural and functional studies of proteins involved in protein quality control by using single particle cryo-EM.

Required Qualifications:

  • Specialists appointed at the Full rank must possess a PhD degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization.
  • 3+ years of post-doctoral experience.
  • Minimum one year of experience working in a biology or biomedical research lab.
  • Hands-on experience with cell culture, recombinant protein purification, sequencing, cryo-EM sample preparation and cryo-EM data processing.
  • Expertise in structural biology approaches such as X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM and RNA sequencing technologies.
  • Excellent organizational skills, excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and assess need for assistance from supervisor.
