Position description

Goodarzi Lab – Junior Specialist – Computational
Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics
University of California, San Francisco

The Goodarzi Lab at UCSF’s Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics is an interdisciplinary research group focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of cancer metastasis. We take advantage of state-of-the-art computational and experimental techniques to advance our knowledge of the post-transcriptional regulatory pathways that drive cancer progression.

We seek to hire a junior specialist to assist our group in building computational pipelines and implement data analytical models. Responsibilities include performing standard genomic and transcriptomic analyses, build customized model for functional genomic platforms, and implement and routinely document accessible pipelines for the community. Through this work, we expect that our junior specialist will play an integral role in advancing our knowledge of cancer biology and genomics.

We are seeking at least a two-year commitment. Depending on performance and workload, opportunities for independent research may be available. The successful candidate will have deep proficiency in molecular cancer biology.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.
