We are in search of an outstanding clinician with experience in Sleep Medicine, who will participate in clinical and teaching activities in our Sleep Section.

The San Francisco VA Health Care System provides health services to Veterans through the San Francisco VA Medical Center (SFVAMC) and seven community-based outpatient clinics. Our Sleep Medicine program has greatly expanded, generating an exciting opportunity to provide more specialty care for patients who are seen at our community-based clinics and throughout Northern California. Primary duties will include staffing Sleep Clinics at our San Francisco, Santa Rosa, and Oakland sites, and delivering comprehensive Sleep Medicine care to our patients, both on an outpatient and inpatient basis. The candidate will participate in Sleep Medicine training for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellows. There will also be the opportunity to occasionally care for patients in ambulatory Pulmonary clinic and as an attending physician on the inpatient Pulmonary Consult/ICU service, but the majority of the time will be spent as a Sleep Medicine provider. Applicants will have demonstrated clinical excellence along with aptitude for scholarship in clinical and educational endeavors aligned with the missions of the section, SFVAHCS, and UCSF.

Highlights of this role include:
• A supportive and truly interdisciplinary team where each member is an equal contributor
• Dedicated and gifted faculty and staff and outstanding trainees at all levels (medical students, residents, and fellows)
• Academic environment with commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and research
• Institutional culture that is highly receptive and friendly to patient care
• Protected time for academic work and a structured curriculum for faculty career development
• Diverse patient population

This individual will receive an academic appointment at UCSF in either the HS Clinical or Clinical X series, at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, commensurate with their experience. They will report directly to the Chief of Pulmonary/Critical Care/Sleep Medicine at SFVAHCS. Applicants will have an MD or equivalent degree, a current medical license, and be board-certified/eligible in Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine.
